Happy New Year to everyone.  We have just been on our usual January holiday in an attempt to miss the worst of the weather, though so far Januaryt has not been too bad. Does that mean we have a sting in the tail to come. I have just finalised and uploaded the final schedules for the spring indoor shows. Then that is it till October, no rosettes needed , no horse trials to organise it is going to be odd but refreshing. ( I hope and not just boring). We are running lots of camps and have loads of work being done, building a club house and new showers and toilets, moving the camp stables etc. The digger has also done work on the xc , revamping the water jump, test digging for a new water jump in addition to the existing one and building of a new coffin complex. We do like to keep busy.

Our holiday was great with a visit to my aunt in South Africa and then on to Namibia to see Fish River Canyon.  A trip to the sand dunes where rivers (when it rains about every other decade or so) disappear long before reaching the sea creating salt pans. When the dunes move over time the rivers are forced to take new courses leaving everything to die on its old route. Positively eerie and majestic at the same time. A days kayaking with cheeky year old seal cubs was delightful as was a quick dip in the ocean with them. Four wheel drive  off road exhilaration through the sand dunes was too much for our tummies, no doubt something to do with the not so chilled ‘Oysters’ and champagne.

A final day in a game reserve spotting sleeping lions and young giraffe among other exotic creatures completed our whirlwind road trip (some 3500km on dirt roads) in 55 degree heat. We were quite relieved to come home and get on the next plane to go skiing.

We stayed with friends David & Sue in a gem of a chalet in Chatel that they ‘found’ last year. A positively luxury chalet with all the extra touches that make it special with excellent food by Andy and great service and wine selection by Lorriane. If you are dedicated skiiers do look up Chalet Cannelle in Chatel.

The season will soon be upon us, we hope to open the xc course this weekend. The camp season will begin and with our new club house everyone will be toastie warm. We take camps with as few as 8 people, so grab some friends and come on over. You can have a great weekend away from just £90 watch out for our booking details on the website or call me.

Don’t forget your Becca lessons or Jane clinics. There is so much you can do.

What ever you do have fun and see you soon.
